tom boone dot comNow on my third career, I'm a law librarian at the Yale Law School in New Haven, Connecticut. My work there focuses primarily on electronic tools and research resources, and I've written and presented on various topics concerning technology in libraries.
I once worked in television production, and had it paid better, I probably wouldn't be a lawyer or a librarian. I spend way too much time watching TV, way too little time reading books, and less time than I should writing the books I always say I'll write.
I have a short attention span, and as a result I'm always researching some new topic. A good friend calls these "Tom Phases," and they tend to last about a month or two each. These phases are the reason my bookshelves contain volumes on curling, Chinese history, the Arab-Israeli conflict, Poker, game design, civil rights, heavy metal and rare books. Sometimes the phases even last long enough for me to finish one of those books. But not often.
