In addition to my work as a librarian, I'm also a freelance web developer. I've built numerous websites over the last 10 years, ranging from small static HTML pages to large database-driven sites utilizing commercial content management systems. Along the way I've learned and used a wide-array of web technologies, including PHP, MySQL, Apache administration, blogs (Wordpress, Community Server, etc.), digital audio production (including podcasting), digital photography, image editing (Photoshop, GIMP, Fireworks, etc.), course management, and digital library systems.
My primary tool for web development these days is Drupal, an open source web content management system. Drupal can be used to build just about any kind of website imaginable, from a single user blog to a multi-user social networking site to a large corporate website and intranet). Some of the most popular sites on the web are built with Drupal, including The Onion, SonyBMG, Warner Bros. Records, Popular Science, and Fast Company. With a large and robust developer community, the functionality of a Drupal-powered website is limited only by the imagination of its architects.
My expertise with Drupal includes theming, content development (CCK, Views, image modules) and user interface development. If you would like to discuss a web development project with me, you can get in touch with me via my contact form.
