Zombie dogs aiding in medical advancements

Creepiest. Story. Ever:
Scientists have created eerie zombie dogs, reanimating the canines after several hours of clinical death in attempts to develop suspended animation for humans. [...] Pittsburgh's Safar Centre for Resuscitation Research has developed a technique in which subject's veins are drained of blood and filled with an ice-cold salt solution. [...] But three hours later, their blood is replaced and the zombie dogs are brought back to life with an electric shock. [...] Although the animals are clinically dead, their tissues and organs are perfectly preserved. [...] Tests show they are perfectly normal, with no brain damage.
The plan is to begin testing on humans within one year. Unlike typical sci-fi cryogenic plans, the idea behind this technology is not to suspend animation for years while awaiting medical advances, but to instead provide doctors with just a few hours worth of time in which to treat trauma victims who have suffered severe blood loss. According to researchers, "battlefield casualties and victims of stabbings or gunshot wounds" would be the most likely to benefit from this new methodology. I guess the big question is exactly who is going to volunteer to be subjects in the planned human testing. I mean, we've all seen "Flatliners," haven't we?
