The DVD release of the Cream reunion shows hits stores today. Filmed during the band's 4 night run at London's Royal Albert Hall in May, the 2 DVD set includes a performance of each song the band played at the shows, plus alternate versions of "Sleepy Time Time," "We're Going Wrong," and "Sunshine of Your Love." In addition, there are interviews with all three band members. During the portions of the DVD taken from the Thursday night show, be sure to look into the choir seats behind the left side of the stage (over Jack Bruce's shoulder). I'm up there somewhere.

British rock trio Cream, will whip up a "Strange Brew" for American fans next month when it plays its first U.S. arena shows since breaking up in 1968, the band announced on Tuesday. Guitarist Eric Clapton, bass player Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker will play Madison Square Garden in New York on October 24, 25 and 26. There's still no word about when tickets for the Cream reunion shows will go on sale. As of Saturday, neither the Royal Albert Hall nor Pollstar has any shows listed on its calendar. I'm not particularly hopeful that we'll be able to snag any tickets. The Royal Albert Hall only seats 5000 people, and this is a show that many, many celebrities will be attending. I doubt seriously that they'll have to wait until the box office opens to lay claim to their tickets. That will leave us clamoring with everyone else in the UK for the few tickets that'll remain when the general sales begin. I also suspect that at least the first night (if not all 4) will be priced well out of our price range. Eric Clapton has already said these will be the only 4 shows the band performs, so the likelihood of a U.S. tour is pretty much nonexistent. Thus, it's London or bust. On the bright side, if I don't have to set aside money for a trip to England, I'll be able to buy a Mac Mini much sooner.

I somehow managed to miss this news for over two weeks, but I read yesterday that Cream is reuniting for 4 shows at London's Royal Albert Hall in May. This is huge news! So huge, in fact, that a friend and I have agreed that if we can score 2 tickets at face value (for any of the shows), then we're going to England.
